25OCT08 - Bangkok, Thailand (Lub.d Hostel, Bangrak)
The modern day miracle thing about yesterday was actually getting to Bangkok... This is because we were not absolutely sure we still had our connecting flight from Tokyo, Japan to Bangkok. You see, Heather and I literally missed our original flight from JFK on tuesday. Don't ask us our it's possible that we'd confuse p.m. with a.m. because we did. And success on a trip like this really depends on pure dumb luck when you're dealing with that kind of special stupid!
All's well that ends well and American Airlines Employee 'Anita' from Queens, NY is a saint. Although she scorned us for being stupid idiots, she admired that we were adventurous and advised us to claim we left our passport at home. For some reason, that is a magic phrase at AA. And it worked. I just hope Heather's older brother Jason isn't fearing for our lives after we called him literally seconds before take off, asking him to please, please call the online booking agent we purchased our tickets from to confirm our connection. He didn't sound impressed with us but I could tell he was amused.
So far Bagnkok is incredibly humid. But that is all I can tell from the kiosk inside the hostel we pulled into at 1 am. (A.M. is for hours between midnight and nooon I've learned.) Heather is getting ready and then we're gonna go to find some sandals because my nike's are wreaking at this point and the fake crocs I was wearing in the states turned into mushy bacteria sponges...

I am so sad I missed your phone call yesterday! Stop interrupting me when I am talking to Canada!!! Miss you two so much! I was flipping through the channels last night cleaning mine and Tyler's room, and came across a friends episode. I had to started to laugh and looked to my right for Heather's nod of approval. Needless to say the tears came next and Tyler had no idea what to do. I tried to tell the bed story to mom and dad but was laughing too hard, it made no sense at all, just squeaking noises where qwords would go. I so wish I could talk to you and tell you funny and scary things going on. I really miss my sister. Only 409 days until Tyler and I are honorary KIWIS!!!!!! (for 26 days!!!!) Take good care of eachother. I love you two!
Thank-God for "saintly" folks at American Airlines! Send St. Anita a piece of jewelry in gratitude! Am I ever glad to read that you arrived in Thailand in whole pieces. (The Heather piece and the Mike piece). You two are definately unique; not to mention vulnerable to adversity. So please SLOW down now, think LOGICALLY before you embark on a local adventure. Please remember how many lives you impact on a daily basis, how many tears/fears/screams and belly laughs are experienced just by knowing and loving you two. Mama Linda's advice for the day: please recite your prayers daily to reinforce WHO your true navigator is. Love, Mama
I'm having a great time reading up of you two! Thanks for taking the time from your adventures to write this! Sounds like you two really are living the deam and that is so inspiring. Take care and be safe!
